King harbor Boat Parade

Due to COVID 19, there will be no Parade in 2020.

This event is is an annual holiday event, and has been going for many many years.  King Harbor based boat owners decorate their boats with thousands of lights and displays, depending on the annual theme.  The boat parade is a fundraiser for several local charities, including the King Harbor Youth Foundation, Santa Monica Bay Maritime Training and Waterfront Education.  We have a Grand Marshall each year and they get to choose their favorite charity to receive a portion of the funds raised.  The whole harbor gets involved, and the Portofino Inn and local restaurants are packed with guests enjoying the parade.  There are grandstands setup in Moonstone Park and a huge party at King Harbor Yacht Club.  The boats compete for trophies and bragging rights.  There are two parades, one for paddle craft late in the afternoon, and shortly after dark for boats 20-80 feet long.

Please contact the Parade Chairman or KHYC Office to sponsor, contribute or ask a question about the parade.  The organizers are working on an alternative (perhaps static displays of the boats in their slips... we do not know yet).
